There are some fabulous natural sites here: plateaus and
hillsides, vines and rocky terrain; the Mediterranean, the Camargue, Montpellier Nimes, the Cévennes, the Bambouseraie are within striking distance. The majestic silhouette of the Pic
Saint Loup towers over the vineyards of the same name, one of the most
beautiful landscapes in the south. There are plenty of historical sites nearby: caves and Romanesque chapels, museums, the mediaeval village of Les Matelles, and the Halle du Verre (glass exhibition hall) at Claret, picturesque Sauve... Colourful markets in Valflaunès, Quissac, Ganges, Sommières; A must: the highest mountain in
the Cévennes, Mont Aigoual, with its observatory and weather
museum, Le Vigan, Saint Martial on the way... and the venerable beauty
